A collection of talent that may even rival the Beatles, after all one of them was a Beatle. Too bad so many passed too soon.

Moody Blues - are on my rock Mount Rushmore along with the Beatles, Byrds, Beach Boys! Yes, I know some of you don't like the BB's.

Huge body of work. Missed Mike Pinder when he left in the mid-70's...but Justin Hayward, John Lodge, Ray Thomas and Grahem Edge continued to put out some epic music.

Hard to choose, but probably my favorite MB tune is Ride my See-saw. The guitar and bass work are exceptional.



Another favorite:

Mike on the Mellotron helped make The Moody Blues. I wish he would have re-joined. Patrick Moraz sucked. But Justin's songwriting skills and under-rated guitar work is what really made them so great. Incredibly talented musician. The work he's done on his own is incredible too.

Putting it on will lower your blood pressure and just relax you all over. I has an almost harp-like quality to it.

The history behind it, as I understand it after living there for around 1/2 a decade and talking with lots of people, is that it was the Portuguese Paniolos (cowboys) who came to Hawaii to work. They played their guitars with the strings not tightened up correctly, and they also played their ukuleles. So what you're listening to is actually the offshoot of Hawaii cattle ranching music.
