Whataburger vs Inn and Out

Yes, I grew up in Texas but never liked Whataburger. Over-rated...I think In-n-Out is way better.
I will agree with the premise that Whataburger is over-rated, but I will still take them over In-n-Out...

Given a choice, I will be somewhere OTHER than those places though...
 
If you have never lived outside of Texas, that could be why Whataburger seems overrated. I didn't want to eat there nearly as much when growing up in Fort Worth as I do when I am visiting.

I’d agree with you if I was a big fast food burger kind of guy. A lot of it might have to do with the fact that California chain is new and novel here, has some tasty fries and I had a bad experience with a Whataburger rare chicken sandwich during my UT days. :puke:
 
I've been telling people in Texas Habit Burger>Wahtaburger>IN & Out but no one wants to believe me.

I'll still take Cafe Express, Newks, Mod Pizza, Corner Bakery and maybe even Panera over any of the burger places though.

Kinkaid's is still the best, imo. Good ol ft worth establishment, even have a photo of an old HS teammate of mine on the wall (mike nelms). My favorite photos on the wall (they have many) are the old fw cats minor league teams from the 40s and 50s.

East Dallas, we go to the old dairyette. Like Keller's, only better burgers.

In Huntsville otw to houston is mr hamburger. Can't pass it by

I don't even bother w whataburger anymore. We eat a burger "out" maybe once a month, there are better choices. In & out isn't one tho

The original post was just head to head. I can make a better burger than both at home.

What other chains are good? In Nashville, we have a chain called Hugh Baby's which makes a damn good burger.
 
By the way, I drove 15 miles out of my way in North Florida to hit a Whataburger for lunch. Double meat with extra tomatoes and jalapenos. Somebody got OutWhataburgered.
 
When I was a very little kid, I used to have arguments with my older brother about Whataburger. I argued it was named "Water Burger". He insisted it was "What A Burger". Well it turns out he was right, but I've never admitted it to him. He's my older brother after all...

My youngest child is under the same impression. I’m not going to dispel her of it. I even told her that’s what I said as a kid and if that’s what it is to her, that’s just fine.

The new In-N-Out Katy location opened yesterday and the traffic lines were about two hours to get through, plus lots of people lined up outside.

Reminds me of people camping out overnight to get the new iPhone. Why not just wait a couple days and walk in?

 
I just dont understand people. It's a fast food burger and an average one at that. No food is worth a two hour wait let alone that burger. I could go to HEB, buy the meat and make my own burger that is much better in under an hour.
 
I bet when a new Whataburger opens up, they don't get anywhere near that sort of line and traffic.

Just saying...
 
It was still happening as of last night. We could look out our back yard and see a long line of traffic going through the shopping center parking lot next to In-N-Out. Since they opened Friday there must have been a few thousand cars already gone through the line. I just don’t get this level of demand for a burger at all. At least they are not on my lawn.
 
Inn and Out opening up a corporate office and multiple locations in Nashville. Now if we could only get some good TexMex...
 
We have a Chuys. Not my fav.
Eyes, if you’re ever out south side, Tito’s is fair although all I ever get is the Mexican plate- three diff meats, Las Portales has the best flautas although they call them taquitos. These are both down Nolensville Rd. Farther down there is a little kitchen next to a Vape Shop (used to be gas station) that has very good breakfast burritos and passable Chile Colorado, flavor good but I like more red Chile in mine. They make mole but always out when I’ve been. Owner says they make from scratch and takes 4 hours, very nice lady btw.

Thanks for the intel. In my opinion, Chuy’s is just okay. I’ll try your south side options. There is a place on White Bridge and Charlotte called Don Carbon. The building looks like it could be near Hobby Airport, but food is as close to authentic TexMex as I have found here. The green sauce will light you up.
 
We will try it next trip. Heading back to Katy tomorrow. Being originally from El Paso I can be pretty picky.
