I will agree with the premise that Whataburger is over-rated, but I will still take them over In-n-Out...Yes, I grew up in Texas but never liked Whataburger. Over-rated...I think In-n-Out is way better.
I’d agree with you if I was a big fast food burger kind of guy. A lot of it might have to do with the fact that California chain is new and novel here, has some tasty fries and I had a bad experience with a Whataburger rare chicken sandwich during my UT days.If you have never lived outside of Texas, that could be why Whataburger seems overrated. I didn't want to eat there nearly as much when growing up in Fort Worth as I do when I am visiting.

Thanks for the intel. In my opinion, Chuy’s is just okay. I’ll try your south side options. There is a place on White Bridge and Charlotte called Don Carbon. The building looks like it could be near Hobby Airport, but food is as close to authentic TexMex as I have found here. The green sauce will light you up.We have a Chuys. Not my fav.
Eyes, if you’re ever out south side, Tito’s is fair although all I ever get is the Mexican plate- three diff meats, Las Portales has the best flautas although they call them taquitos. These are both down Nolensville Rd. Farther down there is a little kitchen next to a Vape Shop (used to be gas station) that has very good breakfast burritos and passable Chile Colorado, flavor good but I like more red Chile in mine. They make mole but always out when I’ve been. Owner says they make from scratch and takes 4 hours, very nice lady btw.
