Watching ou - secsecsec roll-out:

$ec thought they knew money and power. They are about to find out about real money and power. Sark said you may have talent or you may have culture. But talent with culture, watch out. CdC with money --- watch out. Be afraid $ec, be very afraid.
$EC is also going to find out how annoying it is to hear “boomer sooner” being played 200+ times during the course of a football game.

I’m looking forward to us hearing compliments from them about Texas Fight, March of the Longhorns, Wabash Cannonball, and just about everything else the LHB performs.

My mom always referred to the LHB as the Circus Band of the Southwest.

I love a good rivalry!

In case you haven't seen it, I'm posting a link to a "Take the Field" episode that features the LHB and the Pride of Oklahoma from the 2018 Texas-OU game. One the Pride members has a really great quote near the end of the episode. (at 13:10). I'm sure a lot of LHB and PoO members share his feeling.

btw, in the thumbnail for the video, that's my daughter holding up her cymbal (the one on the right)

Very cool!
Has she told you how they survive the heat in those uniforms?
It must be so uncomfortable
I think a lot of it is the indestructibility of youth. Plus that by game time they are running on adrenaline & hope. My daughter told me there is very little sleeping the night before the game, but a lot of drinking. Lots and lots, and the following morning more than a few are hungover. Which is why so many of them are wearing sunglasses in the stands.

Btw, the uniforms are made of a lighter, more breathable material than what the LHB wore decades ago, so that probably helps a little.

That was a cool video. I think it's the best college football rivalry that's not Army-Navy. tOSU/Michigan and the Iron Bowl can fight over who's next. Play a neutral site in the middle of a state fair and split it like that and then come talk to me. Otherwise, shut up.

I always get a kick out of the small OU section that's in the Texas end zone to compensate for the seats OU loses with the tunnel.

Bubba,

A decade or so ago, I was in my usual perch in 106, and a fat guy came and sat next to me and introduced himself as a graduate and season ticket holder from Michigan. He said he had heard about it, watched on TV, and listened on Armed Forces Radio. He said he had always wanted to see it live, so he flew in and was flying back that night. He had been to something like 20+ Ohio State/Michigan games in a row. He raved the entire game about the crowd and the excitement. Told me there was more excitement on the Fair Grounds before the game than he had ever seen at any Michigan game. After it was over, he said this game was in a "class by itself, nothing compares". Shook my hand and ask where was the nearest place to catch a cab. I sent him out to Parry Ave.

Bubba, I agree 100%. But Army-Navy is alone at the top - because of the military tradition of the academies, and the friendly interservice smacktalking that continues for academy graduates throughout their careers. USAFA has dominated both Army and Navy for several years, but Army-Air Force and Navy-Air Force just don't match up to Army-Navy.

Dang, the Pride's running entry onto the field for the home pregame show is pretty impressive.

The LHB used to do something kind of similar, called the "Power Up." It was discontinued a few years ago for some reason (Someone told me it wasn't the decision of the LHB, but the athletic director).

btw, if you're watching this on a big screen, keep an eye on the quad drums around the 3:00 mark after they turn around and start marching north; they have to hold the drums up and march sideways for 20 or so yards to so keep from clobbering the southbound musicians.

When the band runs out and then the drum major with the "hat drag" as we call it finalized with the OU chant is just magical to me. I'll admit that I was groomed by my dad. :)
