Texas vs Arizona, 12/13/23

Playing on the road in a hostile environment, yes.

Anything but a win tonight should be cause for alarm. I know we’ve played a soft schedule mostly but this isn’t going to be a match that is the quality win on our resume.

I mean you’re right; take no game for granted. But I don’t even know if Arizona makes the tournament.

Texas leading 25-22 at the end of the first quarter. Man, for two teams that pride themselves on defense this has been an old-fashioned shootout so far.

Booker is totally out of sorts! But Vic is sticking with her, I guess to not let her lose her confidence?

The refs are horrible. The announcers are awful. And the Arizona coach must be competing with Mulky for most garish outfit.

The officiating crew completely lost control of that game. Good road win in spite of the sloppy fourth quarter.

Big fan of the first 3 quarters. NOT a big fan of the coaching decision to burn the clock in the 4th. Spend so much time dribbling to wind down the clock that they make a frantic shot under 5 seconds that misses the rim and the AZ gets the rebound. Even the announcers were saying that the Longhorns were already starting up the bus and AZ wasn't having any of that!

Meh. For a team that played in the championship game a couple of seasons ago and got within one point of winning it all, I expected more from Arizona. Not sure what happened there in the 4th quarter, but I hope we spend the next week working on breaking the press.

It’s nice to finally have so many offensive threats. I’ve always enjoyed our defense, but was never a big fan of the “just throw it into the big girl” strategy. Those mid-range shots coming from so many different Horns is a thing of beauty.

Adia Barnes' presser. I always liked her as a player and I like her as a coach also. I loved it when she shot the bird at Kelly Graves (Oregon coach) a few years ago.

It’s easy to see why a young player would want to play for coach Barnes! She is really a player’s coach, forthright and all about the student athlete! I loved how she supported her player who had to take off time for her studies. I believe she was in the pre-med program! I’m an Arizona fan now and hope they do well!

Yep they'll come into the Big 12 next year and create problems for our most hated rivals, as will Colorado and Utah. While we're scratching and clawing, trying to find our way through the SEC, it will still be a lot of fun watching the Big 12 rooting against the likes of Baylor and Tech.

That’s some really impressive compliments about Jones. First, Geno says Rori is one of the best guards in the game right now and now Barnes says Jones is the best Post. And Booker getting nods as best Freshman. Considering Amo and Gaston are still knocking off the rust, I’d say this is our best team in many seasons.

Best since 2002/3. At least that's my take so far.

Speaking of Taylor Jones, she really put us on her back at the beginning of the game when some of our shots weren't falling. I know she's had higher scoring games already this season, but she looked REALLY good last night... best I've seen out of her.
