I feel badly for Mia Scott, her error seems very uncharacteristic, but has anyone run across an explanation for what she was thinking? Did she think she could somehow sneak over to second base while no one was looking? I just don't get it, and it seemed to have rattled the entire team from that point on.

Mia does that kind of dancing often. Think she just got ahead of herself and didn’t expect the throw back to Sanders.

Don't take this the wrong way, but those of us who are lucky enough to watch almost every home game in person are not surprised by what happened. Ever since she's stepped on campus, Mia will run past a base and taunt/goad/tease the other team by "dancing" off the bag to see if they're going to forget she's still a live base runner.

This is maybe the....third time I've seen her tagged out based on this behavior. And maybe I've seen twice where the opponents were not paying attention and she steals the next base.

The reason this might be new to you if you can only watch the team on TV is that most shots of players running cut away after they reach base. They don't linger around to watch the runner, as was in this case with Mia. Only on replay did you see what happened.

Nothing new. Just a maturity issue that I don't think is going to change next year.

Both Texas and ou will be tested in the $EC. However, ou knows how to win the absolutely critical games that Texas struggles in.

The days of me pointing at one player and saying "YOU cost us the game" are long gone. Maybe a coach? But I've never coached softball, so I have no right to say that.

It's an interesting point about Mike and his coaching style. Just look at Patty and how she preaches class and discipline and the the whole team jumping and hugging and having a freak out celebration after getting the third out in the first inning. We kept yelling at the TV, "Act like you've been there before!" and then we realized that they have no class. Just saying you have class doesn't mean you have class.

I believe Mike allows reckless base running because he himself is reckless in some of his calls. We see him waving his arms encouraging a runner to go home and we're yelling "What are you doing!?!?!"

Or you can say he lets players be themselves.

Ugh, I thought while I was watching Canady pitching, "I wonder if OU will open up the checkbook and buy her next year?"

Patty learned her lesson this year. She needs a minimum of two Kelly Maxwell types from the portal next year. She got burned by only getting one top notch pitcher. We didn't even see "red glasses" girl pitch.

I predict Patty wants to win one or two more NC in the SEC before hanging them up.

ou will be losing some big bats and leadership, but seems they are able to reload year after year. Gasso is able to go Saban and put all those championship rings front and center for recruits to see. Heck of a tool to reel in most of the best out there.

She rounded second base after Bella had hit the ball to right field. The Right fielder threw the ball to their first baseman. Mia baited the first baseman to throw her out at second and the girl throws the ball to the left wall allowing her and Bella to both score and we end up winning the game 6-5 and on to the championship. Mia was the only player who would have taken that chance and it paid off gloriously!! I'll take this one dance over any of her mistakes. 2022 was a Magic year and we never would have made the championship game without that play!!

I've made my peace with Mia's style of play. She plays AGGRESSIVE. And sometimes you get the extra base and sometimes you get the out. This is for both base running and fielding at third.

Yes, but there has to be something to gain. What's the risk/reward factor? There was no reward possible. It may make sense when the fielder has to throw to another base, but last night she wasn't going to 2nd, there was no benefit and a big negative is she gets tagged out. As the commentator said, "no reason at all do that".

Just like the throw to 3rd by Reese the previous night.

Congrats on a great season! Its unfortunate how it ended, but landing as national runner up is nothing to be ashamed.

I believe we'll be back next year stronger than ever. We made progress this year accounting for 1/3 of OU's total losses for the year. We needed two more and couldn't do it. Massive battles coming your way soon.

Honestly I think Mia (one of my favorites so there is that) lost track of where the ball was. As I see it I think she thought the ball was back in the pitchers hands, just how I see her composure. Unless she has said differently that’s what I think.

Even Patty Gasso admits she doesn't like how the brats at ou act but "She let's it go because that is how they are?" ou is not going to be the team they are now next year, I don't care how many transfers they get in and there are no pitchers out they could get that is like Kelly Maxwell. This group of seniors they had were an amazing group of players and not replaceable. Canady would be the only dominate pitcher that would compare and I can't believe she would move to ou?
