Texas Tech is going to smell blood, even if they get down, they will believe they can storm back to win the game. Either way, will be their world series.

Duplantier gets a 1-2-3 inning, short and efficient, well on his way to making a comeback. We'll see.

I was at my daughters track meet last night and fortunately didn't get home until this one was already over. I had low expectations going in and they were apparently met. The pitching staff this year has just gone into the ditch and it is really on Pierce who took over pitching coach duties to get this righted hopefully soon enough that it doesn't tank the entire season.

Others will now much better then me (I'm looking at you Sabre) how true this actually is, but when I was in Austin a few weeks ago and got out to the season opener I sat with a couple of local friends of mine who are big Texas baseball fans. They talked about the fact that Texas baseball trails in NIL money to just about every SEC school and that baseball actually gets less NIL then women's track and women's volleyball at Texas (not sure if that's true or not but it is what I was told). Baseball has always had scholarship issues compared to other sports but if we are also trailing badly with NIL money not being sufficient then in the real world of college athletics in 2024 Texas baseball is going to slowly fall off and it will be hard to recover. Again I don't know how true what I was told is but given how poor this team has shown to start the year and with the SEC looming next year I wanted to at least put this out there for discussion. Are we setting up Pierce to fail by not getting him the NIL that other sports are getting?

Um, the time to do that would've been BEFORE the season...
