Tennis 21-22

Apparently OU vs Duke in the other semis. How likely was it for TX-OU-UNC-Duke get into the final four (major rivals).
 
Good start after all of the Set 1’s. Texas up 5-2 if matches were determined after Set 1. Of one of UT losses, it was very close at 5-7.

OU playing strong in all of the Set 2’s. Likely to be decided in Set 3.

Score is now 2-1 Texas. Texas and OU split the first 2 single matches. Texas currently with slight edge. At the moment, all 4 remaining single matches appear to be heading to Set 3. Very close!!!

Not so fast. In 2 of the 4 remaining matches, one is heading for a tiebreaker and the other is in a tiebreaker. If Texas can manage to win these two, it will be over and we wouldn’t have to sweat multiple 3-set matches.

Texas wins the tiebreaker! Gutsy play because the Texas player was behind early in Set 2. Texas team is now up 3-1 and one match win from the NC. The other match is still heading to a tiebreaker in Set 2. What a gutsy team!

TEXAS WINS THE NC!!!

Gutsy play. In case we lost one of the tiebreakers, there were 2 other matches in set 3. OU was about to go 5-3 in one and the other was about to go 2-2.
 
Oh crap I didn't see this and started a new thread. I was following the NCAA tracker. A breeze in the park compared to last year's title match!!

59 degrees it was. Chilly out here. Enough about the weather. That was awesome to watch Texas win it all again in person! I got a little nervous there for a bit in most of the 2nd sets but Saby and Lura were able to come back to finish it off! I had no worries with Peyton s match.

Btw, that was my 3rd straight NCAA Tennis Championships to attend and every time a Texas Longhorns team has won! I consider myself their lucky charm! Lol.....

Nice to see whole team there and the support from the men’s team.

(I hadn’t realized that Fernanda Labrana wasn’t with the team anymore though.)

Hopefully everyone is fired up for individual play. I bet they’ll be tired and have to come back down from this high.

Gotta credit coaching staff for what they’re managed to accomplish.

Ritchie Ciammara and Cleeve Harper finished the 2022 season off in style by winning the NCAA Doubles Championship over the Ohio State team of Cash/Vocel (who had won both the ITA All American and the ITA Fall Championships this season). Ritchie and Cleeve were remarkably consistent in reaching the final, by winning 4 straight matches in straight sets. After losing a set point opportunity in the first set, they rallied to win the 2nd set and the match tie-breaker to clinch their title.
