Saw that three women and like 8 or 9 men have made it to at least the pre-qualifying rounds of the ITA championship in the fall. That’s pretty cool.

Also noticed that the only newcomer to the men’s team is the transfer from Norte Dame. No freshmen.

Nice mid season pickup.

Rankings came out today. Not to worry. Several players didn’t play the fall but are back. Should be a nice season!

Team rankings came out today. Men at #3 and women at #1!

I'm really curious in knowing where the Freshmen for both teams will fall within the lineups.

Men earn the #12 seed in the NCAA tournament. They are projected to play #5 Michigan in the round of 16 if seeds hold true.

No. 12 Men’s Tennis edged by No. 4 Baylor, 4-2, in Big 12 semifinals
The Longhorns had several matches come down to third sets or tiebreakers, but came up short against the Bears.

Hey, hey!!!

No. 4 Women’s Tennis claims Big 12 Tournament title with 4-2 win over No. 2 Oklahoma
Stearns named Most Outstanding Performer as the Longhorns earn their 12th Big 12 Conference tournament crown.

Yep, Texas won the first 2 rounds, face Michigan next weekend.

Men put up valiant effort but loses 4-2 in sweet 16 to Michigan.

1 Senior? I wonder if a transfer or an international player is in the works. This team can be dangerous with one more great player added to the roster and if everybody else comes back and remains HEALTHY!

Direct from the Men's coach:

"....are optimistic that we will be able to add at least one player with major impact potential." :pray-hands:

It's from an actual email from the coach. I'm apparently on a distribution list. Maybe it's because I attended their adult tennis camp one Summer.

How do I upload a pic into here?
You may have to be a sponsor to upload pics, otherwise you set up a link to imagur

Copy and paste if it was from an email?

Hi UT Tennis Fan,

I am sorry to report that we dropped our NCAA round of 16 match on Saturday. It was a heartbreaker, and came down to the wire (NCAA Round of 16 recap). One point in doubles or one point in singles likely would have flipped the outcome. Such is sports! While we got more than our fair share of good luck the last few years, we certainly got less than our share this year! It wasn't the season we had hoped for, but we still managed to finish with a #12 national ranking, a record of 18-11, which includes two wins over Oklahoma, and wins over Texas A&M, USC, and #1 Florida (4th year in a row with a win over Florida). We will be back healthier and better next year! We lose graduate transfer Ritchie Ciamarra, but are optimistic that we will be able to add at least one player with major impact potential. But before we can flip the page entirely on this season, we will finish up with the NCAA Individuals beginning next Monday. I'll stay in touch with updates. Until then, thanks for all your support this season, and Hook'em!

Sincerely,

Bruce Berque

Thanks for sharing this. Curious who the one or two players he might be referencing.

It was a tough season for sure with all the injuries. I was very impressed at Elliot, playing on just one wrist all season when backhand slice is not his game at all. So much mental toughness to grind when you know the opponent is going to attack that. I hope Elliot, Micah, Pierre and Cleeve get fully healthy over the summer. I'm not sure if Siem still needs time after dealing with nagging injuries all college career, but if he can find consistency again, the current team is already pretty dangerous. Adding 1 or 2 more cracks the Top 6 will make this team so deep.

Women win their quarterfinal match today. Face #1 UNC tomorrow in the semifinals.

UNC squeeked by Pepperdine who had their #3, I believe, singles player go down in doubles.

I'll be at the match tomorrow which I'm assuming will be played indoors like it was today.

Texas wins the potential doubles tiebreaker. Doing well in 3 of 6 single matches, close in the 4th, and losing in 2. Going to be 4-3 one way or another.

I think it is 3-2 Texas with 2 matches left to decide it and both are going to the 3rd set.

3-2 confirmed. Two matches to decide it. Middle of 3rd set in each. Texas is tied up in games or slightly ahead for now.

Texas has held serve in one match and broke UNC’s serve in the other. Advantage now in favor of Texas as we head to the homestretch.

In one match, Texas up 6-5 in set 3 but UNC now serving. In the other match, Texas is up 5-3 in set 3 BUT with Texas about to serve.

Texas is up 40-30 up 6-5 with UNC serving. One point from winning.
Texas wins!!! Texas broke UNC serve at 6-5 to win 7-5. In the other match, Texas was up 5-3, down 0-30 with Texas serving but that game is now moot.
