We should have kept Hayden Morris over Howard when we had to make cuts before the season.Howard may not recover this year from that outing, his body language looked like he had no clue how to throw a strike.
Nobody should ever, ever, ever walk in more than one batter.Pierce should have AT LEAST used the HOOK after walk in run #2 !!!
Here's from a recruiting post:Hudson Hamilton has clearly not "arrived" yet, but he is a very good talent whom we should diligently work on developing. His freakishly high spin rates put him in the top quarter of MLB pitchers (for spin rates). Result--some really nasty swing and miss breaking stuff. Get his control and consistency down, and he could become one of our main men on the mound.
He should have kept his long hair. Here's from a recruiting post:
Hudson Hamilton
RHP
6'1"
210 lbs
Grand Oaks HS
Spring, Texas
Fastball in the low-to-mid 90s that moves, with a 2600 RPM spin rate (that's on a fastball folks...)! Tricky guy with good control who will throw a cutter, and a wicked slider with a "hellacious bite" in the low 80s with a 2700+ RPM spin rate (significantly higher than the average MLB slider spin rate). Gets plenty of strike outs. Also has a change up and a curveball.
With those numbers, he can dye his long hair chartruse for all I care...
The pros may show some interest. Sounds like what we need. Hope he comes to the 40 and sticks around to graduation.
"Hudson Hamilton is a 2023 RHP with a 6-1 210 lb. frame from Spring, TX who attends Grand Oaks. Large frame with good strength to the build. Primary right-handed pitcher, clean delivery with good balance and drive in the lower half, works down the mound well and gets downhill from a higher slot, compact arm stroke. Very fast arm, generates big spin on the fastball into the 2600s, cuts it some at times, up to 90 at this event but has been steadily low-90s through the summer and fall, peaking at 93 in long looks. Hellacious bite to the slider and mimics intent on it, 2700+ RPMs and spun in the low-80s, true swing-and-miss offering now and for the next level. Pounds the zone with both offerings and can really command both pitches to either side, more in there long-term but already a loud power-arm profile with some potential draft intrigue going into the spring. Committed to Texas. Named to 2022 High School All State Top Prospect List."
