Post a photo you took

Endless amounts of fun can be had with a big storm and a fifteen second exposure.

Cool Shots, Borgtex. I need to try that. It looks like it would better, maybe, to do it in an area where you have a great landscape with no trees (or anything else that blows around and gets blurry) in it.

Thanks, HE. I definitely would try to minimize the presence of trees in the shot, especially if there are any artificial lights in the area that cast light on them and thus give them more exposure time. That's when you get the blurred look. Well, that and when you are using your knee as a tripod, like I was for the first three pictures (heh). The empty shots can be very cool-- I really wish that I had gone to the place where I took the last two pictures sooner than I did-- but I am sure that you could work wonders with some of your abandoned missions/ barns/ homes/ etc. in the foreground.

Expect more misses than hits, though. The pictures I posted happened to come from two of the most violent lightning storms I have ever seen, which happened to roll just south of us two nights in a row while we were visiting family in South Dakota. On my previous attempts (probably only five, but still), I was thrilled if I caught one bolt in a shot. So have patience. It is definately worth it when it works out.

HE, love your pictures. For the next go round, will you post both the raw picture and then the final touched up one.

I'm curious as to what they look like right out of the camera, uncropped and everything.

Smokey,

I may try to figure out how to do it for a few of them, but it would be costly both in terms of space left on my PBASE account and timewise, and most browsers can't view RAW files.

Thanks for the compliment.

This is my daughter (the SS) making the last out in a game this year at the ASA Hall of Fame Tournament. Her team took 2nd out of 45 teams.

I just bought my new S5 IS on Wednesday. I'm sooo excited to learn better techniques, but for now I'm just reading through the book and trying new things. So far I love my little experiments, straight out of the camera:

Whickums, I'm jealous. I love my Sony H5 but the H7, H9 and the Canon are kick ***. The one serious advantage of the Canon's is that articulating LCD screen. And now that the S5's is 2.5", it kicks all sorts of Sony ***.

I've got the S2 and love it. Jealous of the S5 though!

Here's a macro I took on Friday. Pales in comparison to anything ny HE though...
