LSU Series

Brown gets an excuse me single with a check swing that makes contact and finds a hole on the left side. Runners on the corners, no outs.

Pitching change. they don't want Schuessler knocking in three more runs. Ulloa to the mound. However the heck you say that.

Belyeu pops up to the infield. Texas has struck out 19 times. you only get 27 in a 9 inning game, terrible night at the plate.

Borba hits a deep fly ball about 3 feet short of the wall but the CF couldn't make the play and drops the ball. We score 2 runs. 6-3 LSU. 2 outs. runner on 2nd.

J duplantier in to pinch run for Borba. not sure i know why that move, we still need 3 runners on the base paths.

LSU only used two pitchers for the night. LBJ was inefficient tonight and Thomas went 0-4 tonight. Not a good combination. Powell had a good night at the plate and in the field.

bounce back against Tex St. tomorrow.

We'll get settled in the lineup, with some moves and changes, and development of the young 'uns. Our pitching is fine, but not the overwhelming force we've seen from UT teams before. LSU is probably the best batting team in the country.

Right now, we look like about where we're ranked. A Regional host, but not a Super-Regional host. I suspect we'll improve and change that in a good way over the course of the year.

For now:

More Schuessler at bat -- when he's not catching, make him the DH
More Dee Kennedy
Rotate Cummings, Werchan, and Farmer in there for some playing time in the OF. I'm not saying replace the starters, but get these 3 in there a lot--at least for the first half of the season. One of them might be better than one of our current starters, we just don't know yet.

And kudos to Powell for effectively hitting the best pitcher we'll face all year.

(I'd rather face Chase Burns than Holman in a game for all the marbles.)

Idk, right now we need to get our offense on track before we face the kind of pitching we will see to get to Omaha.

Luke Holman is 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 18 innings pitched. He's given up a total of 8 hits so far this year.

You're technically right about hitting better against the best pitchers in the country, but we have a long way to go and play some really good teams along the way. We'll have ample opportunity to get better.

I'd say pitching let us down somewhat last night and our defense gave up yet another error. We did end up scoring 3 runs after we ran off their ace.

And it took the best batting lineup in college baseball 80+ pitches to really start getting to LBJ.

No cause for a freak out. Let’s see what Hurley and Howard have against some good bats.

our offensive struggles were evident before last night against much lesser competition. Both brown and O’Dowd are batting well below .200 and for seniors, that’s bad. They should be more dependable at this point. I definitely expected better from them. I know they will get it together and when they do, AND when pitching becomes more efficient, we will beat LSU among any others. The defense (errors) I’m not worried about, they need to continue to work on it but it’s the least of my worries.
