Has thrown 12.1 innings with a 0.00 ERA and a 0.48 WHIP

"Holman has a good arm with a big fastball up to 95 mph and a high-release that lends well to generating swing-and-miss on his breaking ball. The heater possesses tremendous carry through the zone and has the potential to be a plus weapon at the next level. It's a legit curve with huge depth and tumbling tilt, thrown firm in the upper-70s. When Holman gets that pitch down and spiked, it's been especially effective, though he does have a tendency to hang it at times.

The slider has been a work-in-progress, but flashed big shape for Team USA this past summer. It works well off the fastball, especially elevated. There's also a changeup, though it lags a bit behind his heat and spin. Holman has starter traits and more strength coming in his 6-foot-4-inch frame. His one-two tunneling punch, plus his slider, should lend well to the modern game at the next level. Asthetically, the ball jumps out of Holman's hand and everything comes loose and easy for the lanky righty. He's "what they look like"."

"Holman who was Alabama’s Friday night guy in 2023 does an excellent job mixing and matching pitches and changing eye levels similar to Ty Floyd. Fastball is 91-93mph where he does a good job working the corners. The slider is truly a plus pitch and he shows it at the same angle which creates a ton of swing and misses in the dirt. The curve ball has nice break although he doesn’t seem to use it as much. I have seen Holman pitch backwards more than you typically see and when he does his fastball plays a little quicker. If one of Hurd or Gage is struggling Holman can and will slide up in the rotation as needed."

Pitched well, deep into the tournament for LSU last year. Off to a slow start this year, however.

Transferred from UCLA after his Sophomore year, where he was outstanding until a back injury.

"A transfer from UCLA last year, Thatcher Hurd made his way to LSU. Hurd had his struggles when he first got to campus, namely fighting some command woes, but he began to figure it out down the stretch. He's rather athletic on the bump with fluid motions and a shorter, compact arm action, plus he's got a sturdy build.

Hurd's fastball command can use some work, but the velocity has jumped up in his time on campus, sitting in the mid-90s and he's run it up to 98 MPH.

His slider has long been his best pitch, a mid-80s hammer with extremely high spin rates and more depth than sweep, acting like a cutter at times. He's also got a sweepy curveball in the upper-70s, as well as a fringe-average mid-80s changeup. If all continues to trend in the right direction, Hurd could be a top of the rotation type starter."

I bet they start Holman against us. He's been dealin' this year.

Hurd's got the hottest sauce, but his control could use some work.
 
And they're really fast on the bases.

Schuesller and/or Galvan have got to man-up behind the plate on Friday.
 
This is a good on good, big on big matchup.

As long as LBJ doesn't have an off night, we'll be in it for the entire game. It will be up to our bats.

As I see it, this is probably the best pre-conference match up we'll see this year anywhere in the country.
 
Holman has a high strikeout to inning ratio, why i want our best lineup. LBJ deserves the run support.
 
We're the University of Texas, by God, how the hell do we keep ending up in these ****** online-only options for a tournament like this?
 
Wish I could be there tonight. I’ll definitely be watching the game on whatever outlet it comes on. Maybe listen to it through the radio though if Craig Way is calling.
 


wow, now I wish I was there even more. Going to be something to behold. As good as these two teams are historically, may need to play these games in MLB ballparks every year, I would definitely go if it was in Arlington.
