I nominate the Wimberly High School Gym.
 
Kansas has players with basketball skills. Texas, not so much. It is also hard to fathom how this late in the season, so many of Texas players look lost on the court, like they have no idea of what they are trying to run on either offense or defense.
 
I know they’ll never show in-depth technical talk in the huddles for obvious reasons, but when they do show coaches talking in the huddle it makes them (all) look like simpleton idiots. After a while the players have to tune out phrases like, “We’ve got to get stops on defense,” or “We’re giving way too much easy stuff.” Don’t coaches have more than that?! How does that justify millions of dollars. It’s sounds like some BS I would tell a second grade YMCA team.
 
And immediately after that Terry pep talk we get an air ball three from our unskilled energy guy. This is a clown show.

Yes, exactly. The players look lost. Hunter, Cunningham, Mitchell, and Disu have played together in at least 50 games yet it looks like they just met at the local park for the first time. It’s unbelievable.

It is embarrassing, and it makes me wonder why we can’t do consistently better. We have the resources. We have the facilities. We have had solid success periodically. We have an active future hall of famer in KD. We have about a dozen other guys in the NBA. We had a great if not excellent HC for about 15yrs in Barnes. Is it coaching? Is it recruiting? Is it luck? I don’t understand how schools like Baylor, Villanova, and UConn (just to name a couple) can break through and stay there.
 
Tech fans have been camping out in tents since Tuesday for tickets so probably another beat down coming. I hope not, but gonna take a great effort.

Terry is a genius. Two beat downs in a row is rare. He got this one out of the way for Tech.

A lot of people said the same thing under Binder Boy and Strong, but recruiting says otherwise. Coaching matters in college and we have a ton of talent on this team. We should be consistently more competitive than this and beating top 11 teams back to back earlier proves that. Mediocre coaching allows this to happen. It also means we could get hot again, but at this point it doesn't seem realistic.

You’re right coaching matters, but mostly in recruiting. Ultimately it’s about the players, which is why the same coach led the team to the elite right last year. I say led sarcastically because he didn’t lead anyone. That team was led by Allen, Carr, and Rice. This current team needs Absmas to lead them and, honestly, he’s terrible at the moment. I never watched him at Old Dominion or Oral Roberts or Tulsa or Tulane or wherever he came from scoring all those points, but at Texas he ain’t it. And he’s about two weeks away from ever being able to show it.

SARK ……is “ THE GUY”

Rodney Terry is NOT the guy and hit the DEI Lottery…. Yet is still TERRIBLE!

Yeah he’s not the guy. I agree.
But players matter more than the coach. That’s why the team last year got to the elite 8 with Terry. And it’s why the team this year won’t with Terry. What the difference? The players!
 
Very doubtful if any of the established Basketball HCs will come to Texas unless CdC offers them Sark money. So can you pick a coach on the SMU/North Texas level to take a chance on? This is CdC's dilemma.
