Ewers enters the portal

Cons - he goes to A&M. Pros - he competes for starting job and can't transfer again without penalty.

Does he have to pay back 1.5 million NIL from Ohio ST trading card alum?

Just saw on the crawler that Ewers has entered the transfer portal. Said he only played two plays this year so he would have 4 years of eligibility remaining.

Unless he can find a program that needs a qb now and will anoint him, he’ll have to compete wherever he goes. Question is, does he want to compete with another entrenched underclassman starter or worse case, sit for a year behind a senior (Thompson) and compete the next year? I say “worse case” because he COULD possibly beat out every qb we have on our roster, including CT. If he comes, though, I think we lose Card unless he agrees to switch to wr (unlikely).

In my way of thinking you can pencil in Ewers as being on the team for 2022.
I read that we are in the top 3 for his services: Texas, a&m, and Texas tech.
So surely he wouldn't tease us a second time would he?

Texas better get the checks printed if they want this guy in town.

I hear about the constant interference when talking about our big money guys. If they really want to help the team, they will start throwing NIL money at some of the top recruits. For example, McCombs could give Ewers a deal to represent his car dealerships. It'd be a drop in the bucket for him. It might reek of professionalism and kids looking like mercenaries, but that's the landscape of college sports now. Use it to our advantage. Instead of bugging the coach every Sunday morning about play calling, or whatever it is those BMD guys do to interfere.

I am sure Ewers has good reason why he shared his 3 Texas teams that are in play. I have read there are other team beyond those three but none of that makes sense to leave OSU to head to USC. Riley or not! My fingers are crossed in hoping that he decides to come to UT to make a difference.

Strange as it seems Tech is the leader.

Very broad brush stroke here obviously...

Grew up in Southlake Carroll
#1 rated prospect in years
NIL potential through the roof

= Tech? Unless the Quad 6 is going all in with his NIL, I don't think so. I don't think so.

TT seems to think 50/50 to TT/UT . AnM makes little sense for many reasons.

My suggestion is that you quit believing everything you hear
Which raises another question that you can probably answer:

I absolutely buy the speculation that 10 + years ago we were on the verge of hiring Saban until Mack Brown threw a hissy fit — “Saban isn’t going to win with my players” — and blew up the deal. If that is true, and again, I believe that it is, his antics probably were leveraged through at least one BMD. What do you know about that situation and do you believe it to be true? (Perhaps Jamail or McCombs?)

Next, I am hearing that Saban discouraged Sarkisian from taking the Texas job. Have you heard anything to suggest that to be true?

Finally, with respect to Ewers, if he were to declare for Texas and do so quickly, my assumption would be that it would supercharge our recruiting. So, love or hate the kid and the (perceived) associated baggage, I want to see him select Texas, quickly, partially because of the effect it would have on recruiting.

1) Billie Powers blew the Oliver Luck/Nick Saban deal when he met with Oliver in his office on a Saturday morning. Neither Red nor Jamail interfered. Billie Powers LIED to Oliver Luck!

2) Ms Terry's roommate totally supported Sarkisian's opportunity. He hated to lose Sark (you'll see why at 3 this afternoon), but thought it was a great opportunity. All reports otherwise are ********* and attempts to add clicks to some website.

3) I don't have a pulse on how Ewers would be viewed by other recruits. In typical Ohio State fashion (going all the way back to Woody Hayes & involving every coach since) the coaches lied to Ewers. Would Ewers coming to Austin influence the kid at Westlake to decommit from Clemson and come to The Forty Acres? I don't think either would deter Arch or his family.

Thanks…

Saban wasn’t coming without Luck, and Luck was brokering the Saban deal? Otherwise I don’t get it.

Roach from 247 posted that Tech is definitely in the Ewers race, but he heard something significant enough about Texas' chances that he thinks it could go down early next week.

Ohio State's 247 site believes it will be Texas.

It's recruiting. Things change hourly it seems.
