2023 Volleyball

Huge news for women's college volleyball as next year's national championship moves to ABC. Not crazy about the Thursday semis and the two day break but we seem to have to jump through hoops to get the exposure of the other sports.

I guess I'm in the minority here but I thought Emma's name was missing from that preseason all conference team.

This team isn't being given enough credit for the returning talent they have. That practice gym is going to be tough. I can't wait!

I disagree your talent assessment - to my eyes, the talent is squarely on the beach volleyball team.

Ahhh okay I get it now. I hope he is not an old perv because a lot of those ladies are juniors and upcoming seniors in high schoolo_O
No, I wonder how the far above average talent has been assembled. You think it’s random? Compare the photos of the volleyball team and the beach volleyball team and report back to me.

In stretches, there was some high level volleyball being played during that scrimmage. We are going to field a very salty team again this year.

I watched first two sets. Team has lots of weapons. Size, athleticism, hitting, blocking……typical of Elliot teams. Wennas, Byrd look like nice additions. Elliot is saying the coach-speak things regarding serve-receive, passing and back row D. I’m hoping that those things that have been a constant weakness in his teams don’t return. Fleck and Halter (and sometimes Akana) were exceptional last year. Halter is going to win libero competition. Akana is in there on D. Heinrich and Barnes are options. In no way shape or form does those 4 play better than last year group with Fleck. Just hope the drop off isn’t a championship killer. We’ll see soon.

Well that was pure embarrassing! That can’t be the Swindle Jerritt recruited because she looked wayyyy better in the spring than she did tonight by a long shot. Same goes for Wenaas and everyone not named Devin.

I was pretty worried after the scrimmage with CC. I'm not sure why anyone thought Texas should be #1 again with a Freshman setter and losing the best Libero in college VB last year. It wasn't just her digs, but no one got it to the setter better than Zoe. Barned is where she came from.

I thought the SE's would get better with Logan gone, but that was a mistake too. I don't know how you beat even and average team with 17 SE's in 4 sets.

I didn't watch, but I bet there were a lot of freebie pushovers called attacks. That's how you get beat by average teams.

Texas is doing this two handed freebie that I’m not feeling at all! You can tell it was taught to them this off-season because they were all doing it and I’ve never seen Skinner so it before but it does absolutely nothing but give the other team a free ball.

That's crazy. If you don't have a big hole, or can't get it to the floor with power then set it to the other OH or MB. Pitter patter at the net will kill you every time. That used to drive me nuts from the 2019 team and we know what happened to them.
