2023 recruiting - volleyball

She still shares Texas volleyball Ig post. Someone said that she was not the only one who wanted to quit that team a lot of others wanted to do the same but didn’t. She was just the only one to do it and got praised for it.

It's good to hear that bit of hopeful news.

I can say my niece was also frustrated playing on her HS team because the quality of volleyball was so far below her club ball level. If you're a dominant OH but have a poorer back row and setter, you don't get nearly as many quality swings as you'd like.

Wishing your niece the best. Problem with many HS coaches...they burn thru kids looking for the next G.O.A.T. Happened to both of my boys.
 
So I’ll offer to answer my own question. I reviewed the prior posts, as well as recent video etc. Buntin is listed at 6’-5” to 6’-3” and I think she spots in as MB even though she’s currently an OH for her school test. We have Several OHs committed. I “believe” Singletary from 2022 class is a MB as well. In reviewing the committed players, I’m not sure all will sign in December. The setter yes. Seems like too many “bigs”. Just a perception…..no real idea..

Bunton will 100% be playing MB. We lose Caffey and O’Neal so that just leaves Singletary and Bergmark for next season or Phillips can move back to the middle but Texas will have a lot of outsides next year and this recruiting class is special. Jordyn Byrd and Ella Swindle will be enrolling in the spring and Helmers and Tomkinson seem locked in as well. Bunton getting experience at outside is great for us because it teaches her defense, passing, and she has a pretty effective serve. The recruits may be big but they are athletic and mobile so the future is more than bright:hookem:
 
Thanks JJ. I am once again confused. In other posts somewhere, I believe somebodies said O’Neal was coming back. She’s listed as red-shirt senior so guess not. I sure hope Helmers opting out of her high school season and not having fun comments doesn’t mean she is giving up volleyball.

O’Neal stated earlier that this will be her last season. She’s could return if she wanted but she’s ready to move on and explore professional opportunities. As far as Helmers goes she has not given up volleyball and will be playing at Texas. It’s kind of the same situation as O’Neal did her senior year by opting out of their senior season. Let’s just hope she continues to workout and stay active.
 
Looks like all five signed. Anybody have overall insight into rankings for 2023 class. Certainly someone or site has a top 50 college recruits. Tomlinson appears to need some time to develop into a college player. The other four might all be ranked in top 20?
 
Well how bout them apples. With O’Neal now coming back that sure changes this discussion on roster spots AND playing spots.
