T-3—Viviana Martinez, IF, Arizona Storm (Texas)
Viviana continues to be one of the top shortstops in the country who can do it all offensively and defensively. She is a triple threat hitter at the plate with the ability to poke holes in the defense’s vulnerable weaknesses and can exploit the infield if too far back or drive the ball in the gaps if too close. Viviana has played for Corey Mathis and his storm program for about a half dozen years and shot out of the gate as a Freshman by earning 1st Team All-State honors and Southwest Regional Player of the Year recognition after she hit .612 with 15 home runs and 44 RBIs in just 25 games. In three years of play at Tolleson (Arizona) High, the one-time Oregon commit is averaging .615 with a .689 on-base percentage with a strong 2.038 OPS. Adds Coach Mathis: “She is a stud and will impact Texas on Day 1.”Click HERE to read more about Viviana in Extra Star Power article from last year.
