What is this thing? (computer related)

It's flat and about 2'x18" and an inch or so thick. It has two cords coming out of it, one for power and also a serial plug-in.
On top, enlayed about a foot square, are a bunch of little circles maybe 100 of them or so, in rows. Covering the little circles is what seems to be an oversized mousepad. No idea what the company that makes it is, but their logo looks like intertwined or connecting F's. Sorry about the crappy description, but what can i say? What the hell is this thing? What does it do?

It could be anything. Where did you find it. It sounds like some sort of sensor for heat or weight.

ok it has 500-1000 of the little sensors/magnets not 100. It came in a box with some sales material and a pair or socks. I don't think it's for drawing, the mouse pad over the sensor things would dull down the sensitivity too much. It might be for weighing. What about the logo? the interlocking F's?

i don't have a camera around to take a picture with.

It was with some sales/marketing material for outdoor/hardware store. The socks were some sort of special thermal sock. I assume this thing was going to be used in some sort of presentation.

My guess is it is a foot pressure/strike measuring device. They are used for everything from diabetics (determination of ulceration locations) to runners (to choose the right shoe).

washpark, i think that might be a good guess. The mousepad like thing on top of it has a white line down the middle of it, would look you're supposed to keep one foot on each side of it.

Question 2
I plugged it into a computer but it didn't recognize the hardware. I want to use it. . . how?
