Surely a dynasty now as we won the 2015 Quidditch World Cup by beating Lone Star 120*-90 as Evan Carr caught the snitch giving us the win that has to be one of the most thrilling final in this championship.
Well done Horns!

Remember this is a World (not National) Championship and was completely decided by competition on the field of play.

We have a chance to be the dominate team of the 2010 decade!

Everybody hates a snitch, I'm glad they caught him. We beat Lone Star? Did we beat Shiner and Pearl too? The state of Texas is the Quidditch capital of the world, yet the whole USA can't even get to a final in soccer? Something is very wrong here, so help me Harry Potter.

I was a big Harry Potter fan. Is this for real or a joke? Did I just drink too much wine?

I read that this is a coed, contact sport. Where do they play these games? I would like to join the closest team!

My boys got into Harry Potter around 2010 and we started watching the movies with them. My wife and I loved it. We ended up buying every one of them and watched them all several times. Really fun movies.

I got into comparing the movies to the story as told by Rowling in her books. The screenwriters did a good job on the Quidditch games, but they contaminated the World of Wizardry with romance in order to jazz up the ratings. Joanne Rowling's imagination really comes out in her written word. So, encourage your children to read the books. The audiobooks are even better than the written word because she wrote the stories to be read aloud to children. I have spent a lot of miles while rolling on a freeway and listening to Rowland's imagination come alive from playing the CDs in my car. I have lost count of the number of Quidditch games that I have listened to in the car. ........... I have got to go see at least one of these games live.
 
Austin was considered for the 2015 World Cup since we were back to back World Quidditch Champions. Maybe we will get to host the one in 2016. Wouldn't that be great. It would be earned and well deserved plus about time after winning 3 straight.
 
Did you hear? Officials announced they are going to build a new Quidditch stadium over by Disch Falk. They are going to move the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in order to make room for the new facility. Groundbreaking will start in 2017.

Wait a minute... Why can't the wizards move the cemetery? It's their new stadium. Why should we muggles have to pay for it?
 
This is the opening Patterson has been looking for. He can organize an international conference for Quidditch. We can send our team around the globe to of course "advance our culture of wizards and magic." That should help solve the world's problems.

We being a world power in Quidditch will spark many potential rivals. England would be the natural breeding ground for such rivals, since they consider it their game, not the bloody Yanks, from Austin.

Some blue collar type school in say Liverpool or Birmingham would want want to beat us in the worst way. The rivalry could flourish and many traditions could be born. Of course having a history for magic and wizards and such, they could have some strange ones, that might seem almost cultish, to most people.

To get back to tradition of old school Quidditch, there must be an almost magical ceremony performed. Whatever English school might have old values established, in a time when agriculture and clans ruled, much like an army.

Many things were celebrated by bonfires, that signaled the beginning or a time or season. You know that whichever English school became our rival, whether wanted by us or not, would have ceremonies like this. They would have a "burning desire to beat us," as they consider themselves to be the true school of the sport. Texas, to them is just an arrogant school, with a sense of entitlement, due to recent success, with all the advantages.

Much like the Druids of days of yore, they would organize and build a huge bonfire. They would offer up some type of sacrifice to be consumed by the fire. They would be led in strange chants, by men all dressed in white. The words could not be understood, by those that don't follow their beliefs. They can't explain them and people on the outside can't understand them.

Songs are also a big part of such a ceremony. Probably something about destroying the interlopers from Texas in some evil fashion. Such as dismantling their broomsticks, the vital tool of the game, perhaps by "sawing them to pieces." There would be words about how they are the true school, with the true magic and traditions. They would also join together as one and sway back and forth, as they sang their dirge, for a more menacing effect.

They could also bring forth some animal to represent their pagan ways, one that would have complete reverence from their hoards. They would anoint some special group that would "shepherd" the animal to each match. They would of course come from the leaders, that say and lead the chants and songs. They would assume power, that even the rest of their followers would resent, but still follow.

The game would become a tradition and be played in the shadows of Stonehenge each year. It would coincide with a traditional holiday season, for further notoriety. This would be of course "Halloween."

This game would be celebrated for years, but if we continue to dominate, then there would be an outcry by the English School. They could no longer tolerate the arrogant Texans and how they dominate the Quidditch Conference, both on and off the pitch. That the creation of the Longhorn Quidditch Network or "LQN" was the last straw. They would leave what had become known as the "World 12 Conference," for Quidditch.

They would be leaving for a rogue and even more strange League of Quidditch teams, at the southeast corner of the globe. Their culture was more in tune with them there. They could flourish and be themselves in this League. They would finally be out of the shadow of their neighbors, to the west, these "Shiner Sips," as they had become known to them. They had seen the team drinking this strange concoction, after a victory over them to celebrate. They were further "uphauled," because they drank them with a pinky extended. Then were enraged by the pagan sign they gave, with the two extended fingers. These new world upstarts even had a better pagan sign than theirs. The new UT slogan didn't help either, "We're Texas Quidditch, Deal With It."

So there you have it, how Quidditch will come into it's own on an international stage for UT and Patterson. Somehow this all sounds vaguely familiar, but I can't quite put my two extended fingers on it. :smile1::hookem2:
