Tiger Woods was injured Tuesday morning in what the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department termed a "single vehicle roll-over traffic collision."

According to the department's Twitter account, the vehicle sustained "major damage" in the accident, which took place at 7:12 a.m. Woods was the only occupant of the car, and was extricated via the jaws of life. He was taken to a nearby hospital. No further information on his condition is currently available.

Hope he's ok.
 
He was arrested for DUI in 2017. Pain medications. Was asleep on the side of the road.

Coming off, I think, his 5th back surgery. Hmmm. Hope not, but would be surprised if this is not found to be related to pain medications.

All I can think of is he either saw it thought he saw a car making a turn at the intersection and progressive action. Otherwise the happy pills or happy juice took over.
 
Media reporting major damage to his legs. That will happen due to the area under the steering wheel bashing in to you.
I had a friend who was involved in a low speed wreck, that severely damaged her legs. Broken bones. ankles were disintegrated basically, major nerve, artery, tendon damage.
She walks, but poorly now. She was a marathoner, and can no longer run.
I doubt if there is any way Tiger will ever be able to walk 18 holes, let alone play a competitive game of golf.

I wonder if he relapsed, and that knowledge, combined with the journey that lay ahead, might have resulted in an attempted suicide.
From what I have read, the type of car he was driving saved his life.
So very sad.
 
Yes, certainly will be a miracle if he ever plays competitive golf again. Real sad.

One thing I just read in the comments on news site linked to my email is that TW is a Republican and deserved what he got. Frist, I didn't know that. Second, the comments are despicable regardless of political affiliation.

Hopefully that's it. Interesting that even though the Sheriff said multiple times he wasn't impaired, he also noted what OI wrote above about no braking or skid marks.

If suicide, I doubt he would have his seat belt on.
 
Concur about comments...and I will be among the first to admit that I had several things that came to mind when I first heard the news. Kudos to the LASO for stating early on that there were no indications of "salacious details" about the cause of the accident.

With the compound fractures on the right leg and the ankle fracture on the same side, I just don't see him getting back to the professional level. This will cause him to have to make many changes to his game to even play 18 holes recreationally, and we already know the PGA doesn't grant cart exemptions (based upon what they did with the guy some years back...Casey something or other if I remember correctly).

It does appear that the early reports about jaws of life being used were erroneous.

Best wishes for him and hopefully he does not get the complications like Alex Smith had. Am guessing they will be sharing some calls through the coming months...especially in light of the recent article about Smith having to do most of his own rehab since Washington team personnel didn't know jack about things he was going through.
 
It was questionable, in spite of what he told Jim Nantz on Sunday, that he could even return this year. He always says he's fine and things are coming along in "the process".

Golf media laps up whatever he and his agent say.
 
Having driven that stretch of road more than a few times, it was never my favorite part of the drive. I would have been far less than thrilled with the choice of hospitals he was taken to.

Not South Bay, not Torrence, get a damn helicopter to UCLA or USC.

I'm glad he got the same treatment the average douchecanoe would have gotten. They said the criteria meant he would go to that hospital. It's good he didn't get the celebrity treatment here.
 
I doubt two thirds of that staff even knows who he is. The trip around the mountain from the port to Riviera encompasses about four evolution cycles.

Literally, the hospital is on the back side of the mountain and is covered mostly by doctors at the hospital in Torrance. CORE cardiology was a quality group twenty years ago, but the liberals took control of reimbursement, and the senior doctors retired to their ranches. Really good guys.

As a pilot, you can appreciate their dilemma they were in. LAX just north and John Wayne to the South. The chopper would have had to go through the approach patterns to get even to St Joseph's in Orange.

They have "VFR Corridors" that helicopters can utilize* to avoid Instrument Flight Rules aircraft.

*I think. Lol. It's something along those lines, so it would be no issue.
