Shooters need their legs... playing every minute of every game in a defensively aggressive (with a capital A) system, and practicing hard in between those games, has an effect on legs. We need to either get them some rest, or dial back a little bit with our defense. I vote for getting them some rest. With another opponent's big protecting the basket, we really need some offensive output from Shaylee and hopefully, from Shay. I just keep scratching my head over Shaylee's offensive fall off since she transferred to Texas. I don't know if it's the caliber of opponents, Vic's system, or what. Just would like to see her have another 20+ point game.
I get the leg rest thingie, but Shaylee dropped 100 points in yearly average after she went to Texas. If she keeps up with the way she's going lately, she'll drop another 100 in average. It seems to me that she passes up a lot of shots, legs or no legs. I know she and Shay are working their tails off defensively, but that only keeps the opponent's score off the board. It doesn't help our tally. I know when UT consistently had Taylor's 16, Madison's 13 (and Rori's 14) Shaylee and Shay's lack of shooting wasn't so hurtful, but it seems in the last 3 or so games, some more attempts could have really helped. I'm still very hopeful that the team and Coach Vic figures things out.Shooters need their legs... playing every minute of every game in a defensively aggressive (with a capital A) system, and practicing hard in between those games, has an effect on legs. In all fairness, Shaylee's scoring average the first year at Texas dropped because there's obviously a huge difference between playing for BYU in the West Coast Conference and playing for Texas in the Big XII.I get the leg rest thingie, but Shaylee dropped 100 points in yearly average after she went to Texas. You figured it out already. It's the caliber of opponents and the defense-first mentality of the system. With another opponent's big protecting the basket, we really need some offensive output from Shaylee and hopefully, from Shay. I was just about to post the same thing. And this is why some of us are frustrated. Although we are playing good right now, now would be a great time to get some minutes from Jak and Maul and he isn’t. It comes off as I’m difficult to please but long game they need to play to get better. (His words)
Maul comes in and immediatly walks...doh!!
I swear I remember KU's Jackson being much bulkier in the past. The Jackson I saw tonight was very lanky; am I confusing her with someone else or did she transform her physique? I recall Vic referring to her as an "aircraft carrier" in the past; someone who just takes up space in the paint. I feel like I saw a different player tonight.
