Texas vs Alabama 03/24/2023

I only saw the first quarter of the FSU/Bama game. I’m really surprised because I thought FSU was way too athletic for Bama. I see where they finished fourth in the SEC and that’s all I know about them. Scouting report needed.

I too am worried about Alabama. They remind me of Oklahoma, which was our nemesis this year. I hope we are up to the task defensively.

I thought the same thing GH. DeYona won't get 3 OR's against Bama and we certainly can't have Amina shooting airballs from 5 ft. If she hasn't developed a shot by now she probably won't. I sure hope Aliyah is good to go because she's the only forward with an outside shot. It would be nice if Shaylee gets hot from 3 again, but I doubt she has as many open shots.

Gonna be a tough, hard fought game.

Alabama coach Kristy Curry:
Purdue: 7 years. Left after 26-7 year to be closer to family in Texas
Texas Tech: 7 years. Left after 21-11 year for Alabama
Alabama: 11th year. This year (24-9) is her best winning percentage so far

I think that Alabama is a bad match up for this Texas team. They run really good offense and are well balanced inside and out. IMO, Vic can't be stubborn and try to guard them man to man the whole game. He needs to play some zone because I don't think Gonzalez or Holle can stay in front of their guards. Florida State is a much more athletic team overall on the perimeter and they couldn't defend Alabama's ball screen offense consistently.

On offense Texas is too one dimensional. Just trying to force the ball inside isn't going to work. And the fact that Booker is the only guard on the team that can create their own shot. Alabama likes to mix up their defense and play man to man as well zone. They also have ability to match up with Texas inside. I think this game will be a lot like last years game against Louisville.

I agree it's a really tough matchup for us... hope we respond better than we did last year against Louisville.

Looking at the Schaefer vs Curry record while they were both in the SEC (2013 - 2019), Vic leads 5-2. First loss was Curry's first year and it was a loss in OT. Last loss was Vic's last year, it was COVID 2020 and lost by 2 points (at home).

I'm nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. :(
But then again, I'm like this before almost every game we play.
Let's go!!! :hookem:

I’m confident after watching Jones and Schaefer in press conference. Schaefer will rarely get out coached. I don’t think he’ll change much. I don’t think he’ll full court press hard. Fundamental hard half court man-to-man D. And pound it inside offense. He has a better team. Execute and Horns will be fine.

Last year, I had an uneasy feeling going into the Louisville game. Something was off like we had already peaked for the season. Don't have that feeling this year. But also, don't know much about Alabama. People being a bit negative and nervous on this forum because they don't want their feelings to be hurt again. Better to say, "See, I was right!" after a loss.

I predict a win by 8+ points.

Hardly the case with me FYI. I just want so badly for our team to make it through. I don't give AF about being right or wrong. In fact, I hope I'm all wound up for nothing.

*Last year against Louisville I felt the same as you described.

Wow Durant flashes Hook'em in support of Schaefer's " Kids"

KD LOVES Texas. Aside note . I remember when KD showed up at a Men's game at Bailor. KD asked Rick if he could ride back with the team on the bus. Rick said, "Heck you can drive if you want to"

Oh No Head injury
I am sure they are making sure Jones did not hit hard enough for concussion. She is sitting on end of bench
