I read Dion's post and it hit home. HF is one of my regular stops and I enjoy the information and (mostly) the opinions. Management of this site is on a volunteer basis and I hope we all recognize that. I don't know if Dion is having to support the site from his own pocket, but I'm fairly certain that he is not basing his retirement on any proceeds here. You folks who are on here all the time, how much is it worth to you? Give up a couple of Starbucks each month? I would miss this site if it were gone, and am willing to pitch in to keep it going.

It's definitely worth a few bucks a month to help keep it going. It's the site i visit the most along with espn. :hookem:

Actually, it was posted here in WBB a few days ago. He was expressing dismay at some of the bickering going on and mentioned that he was tired of it and that, really, most of us don't contribute anyway. If you click on the sponsor link, you'll find that you can contribute as little as $5 per month to help support the site. I realized that as much time as I am on here, I really had no good excuse not to contribute.

HF is my second or third site opened every morning.
I do not understand people who won't donate to help keep it going.
Hooefully jusme828 and ithers will donate.

Okay, so, a few days ago is now the same as a year ago? I guess that's why I didn't find it.
 
Glad to see people joining on to be sponsors. If you post here frequently and depend on this site to gather or share information, I challenge you to do the same. I wish I would have... and SHOULD HAVE... done it a long time ago.

Take a look at the sites from some other schools and you'll realize how fortunate we are to have this one. The sponsorship is very affordable. :hookem:
 
We get enough talk about how women's athletics are not profitable, and men's sports have to carry all the weight. It would be really cool to see the regulars join the sponsorship and try to change that narrative here on our forum.
 
I liken being a sponsor on this site to being in a union covered job. Paying the dues is just the right thing to do
 
@Dionysus I know the goal is to keep this forum under volunteer-only sponsorship. However, if more people don't at least offer the minimum contribution, perhaps it should be restricted so that people couldn't post without becoming a minimal sponsor. Some of the very ones who are most active in posting are some of the same who refuse to sponsor. It's similar to people who hold union-covered jobs but refuse to pay dues because they don't have to -- but reap all the benefits. They're referred to as SCABS. We're very fortunate to have this site. Too bad more people can't show some appreciative support.
 
@brnkj - I’ve thought about this some, how to get more support without going to a full paid-only model. Even if a minimum of $5 per month were mandatory, some people will simply not pay it under any circumstances, and would just leave for another free site.

Which makes me wonder: would anyone care? would their absence affect the quality of posts on Hornfans?

I’m open to ideas to get more support engagement. Thanks for your post.

Good points... not sure what other free site they would provide the same level of interaction and information dedicated to TXWBB. Food for thought.
