Horns vs KSU

This team is so flawed. We have too many skilless starters who are either just energy guys or just athletes. And two of the other three starters are way too short to be consistently good game to game.

They have nobody, other than Disu who can score from 12-15 feet. Mitchell really needs to develop that range, but it may never happen as his mechanics look horrible. On defense and rebounding they just get pushed around. They have been bailed out on several rebounding fouls called against ksu which don’t get called against uh, tceh, isu or kansas

Just just thinking that this is about the 50th game I’ve seen Mitchell play - since this is year three - and there is really no improvement in shooting or range. Or really anything that’s classified as basketball skill. The guy is literally just a big jumper, same as day one.

We've never trailed and led since 6-4 at the start of the game. We're up 11 with 8 minutes to go. If that is same ole same ole... I'll take it.
Lead predictably back to 6 with 4:40 left. Against a 15-10 team. At home. So the “same ole” I think is a reference to very average level of play again.

This 15-10 team has wins over both Kansas and Baylor. The conference is deep. I'll take the win if we can get it.

Mitchell chocked away two free throws within the final two minutes, including an air ball. To clarify for those not watching: the second free throw was an air ball.

His shot percentage outside of 18 inches has to be pathetic.

Lead down to 4 with 48 seconds to go. Weaver just missed 2 free throws.

Are we going to choke this game and the season tonight?

Mitchell was right there, I thought he should have taken the guy into the 3rd row.
Agreed. Didn’t want to pile on Mitchell since I’ve been really critical of his play. But yeah he was a terrible teammate there too. He just walked away. Dude is not locked into the game.

I’m just talking about the standing around and lack of intensity at times. Held on for the win.

Didn’t watch much of the second half (the first half was pretty unwatchable) but the minutes I watched were some bad basketball. Mitchell and Weaver both with air balls on ft’s. Abmas attempted a long pass instead of running clock. They were lucky that one ksu layup rimmed out and the big missed an easy alley oop pass. Disu is the only consistent player. Good thing they get okie aggy and the dirt burglars at home. The way they played against uh and tonight makes a road win a pipe dream at this point. This team has gotten worse as the season has progressed.

Difficult to watch grind it out kind of win but in a season where it really is about winning this type of game, Texas came through. The Horns have five really tough games to end the year and need to find a way to win at least two and hopefully three to secure a tournament berth. It is prove it time for Texas.

We mess up = we're bad and Terry sucks
They mess up = we got lucky

The double standard is glaring.

Opposition research against us begins and ends with "defend the 3." Starters were 0-12, and if not for Horton, we basically shoot an 0-fer on the day. KSU did a great job keeping Disu inside the arc and bodying him up, but his FTs were the main difference for why we won.

Kaluma was my big "get" for last season's portal. While he didn't have the best shooting day, he made us miserable at a few points.

Look, I don't think anyone is expecting a tournament run out of this team. Making the tournament is a good step, but it's really no different than all of those 1-and-done Barnes teams either. RT is going to need to keep the existing recruits AND hit the portal hard for 2024-25. If not, he'll only last a year in the SEC.

Fair points all.
