Horns vs #14 Iowa St

Texas basketball tonight
Getting smoked by standing around on defense and being sloppy with the ball on offense.
Gonna be a long long night if they don’t pick it up!

Sorry but we are bad this season. This is embarrassing. We lost a ton of talent from last season and the replacements are not anywhere near as good. This is what I’m afraid of with our football team - replacements will not be good enough.

I personally feel that we could have won the NC last season if Disu wasn’t hurt. That’s probably been stated here before.

DD scored 16 straight at one point in the second half as he single handedly brought us back into the game. This is like the 06-07 KD team where it was KD and just some guys, except this season it’s DD and virtually no one else.

Inconsistent, that’s just the word for this season. This team can be very exciting and show incredible promise and then just lay a complete egg like they did last night in the first half. The nice thing about a team like this is they can get on a hot run and if they do so at the right time, it could be very exciting. The bad thing is they can be in a rut and lose to just about anybody and never have that chance to make a late run or it just comes too late.

I keep hearing that the new arena has a great "home court advantage". If so, why can't we win at home?

It helps to have a team with a solid core that can build on its consistency. We really just don't have that, nor do I think we'll have it next season.

RT also didn't do... well... anything to build hype this season. I can't think of a single thing he said/did to be like "come on out and watch us!"

This team is what it is. Pretty much equal stretches of horrendous play and good to outstanding play. They have done that all year. It was covered up before conference play by the low quality opponents except Marquette and Uconn. The Uconn game is replaying over and over in games against ranked conference opponents. There is nothing in what they have done so far to suggest that they will go on any type of run. They will probably steal one road win against the ranked team they have road games with and lose another at home they shouldn't.

My concern is that this is what we are going to get from Terry every year. The entire roster will again be a complete turnover as I doubt Mitchell or Hunter return, Abmas, Disu, Shedrick, Horton, Brock will all be moving on. I put it at 65-45 in favor as to whether the highly rated recruits make it on campus. Terry will have to do much better in the portal coming off a rather down year (I don't count on this team making the tourney but lots of opportunities left), when he whiffed on higher level portals such as Olivari from Rice coming off an elite 8 run which probably would have been final 4 except for the Disu injury (I don't think anyone this side of the NBA was beating Uconn at the end of last year). In any event, that will lead to more inconsistent play next year. The Sec is not as strong a basketball conference as the Island of misfit toys, but it is not a weak basketball conference and similar play next year will produce similar results, which has been Terry's norm over the course of his head coaching tenures.
