Horns move up in polls & gain individual honors

Texas soccer continued its climb to national prominence Tuesday, earning the No. 8 ranking in the United Soccer Coaches poll. It is the program’s highest standing in the poll since Sept. 30, 2008.

The Longhorns are ranked as high as No. 7 by Soccer America and are also ranked No. 8 by Top Drawer Soccer. The latest NCAA Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) has Texas at No. 5, down two spots from last week.

...Texas sophomore defender Atu Mshana was selected as Top Drawer Soccer’s national player of the week following the pair of shutouts.

The Big 12 rewarded Texas with all three of its weekly honors going to Hintzen (offensive player of the week), sophomore goalkeeper Nicole Curry (defensive player of the week) and freshman midfielder Haley Berg (freshman of the week).
