watching the Maximum Lider wallowing in his great victory was just so special.

I especially like the end where they play that stirring patriotic piece, YMCA

You just can't make this stuff up.
 
As an exceedingly less than average cellar dweller once said-

the WHINOES who don't run, couldn't win and spend their time on blogs and fan sites whining about the lack of purity of those who actually try to do something in the context of democratic politics----like getting elected, figuring out ways to put together legislative coalitions to get things done, etc

The reality tv star who bankrupts companies, tries to coerce public officials, brags about being able to grab women, pays off his whores and closes off his harangue with bragging about the size of his unmasked crowd and wanders off to the tune of YMCA?

No, I am rising to point out what a huge hypocrite you are.

I can rise to point out all of the economic success this President created, but only those with at least half a brain would be able to understand.
 
Economic gains under Trump and his status as a vulgar egomaniac and narcissistic little ***** are not mutually exclusive
 
Totally agree, but they are two very different things. His egomania and narcissism doesn't affect me. His economic policies do.
 
in fairness to Trump, I liked his Supreme Court nominees

And in fairness to his rally goers, most of them did not crash the Capitol but rather departed peacefully. It appears a few hundred got a little too worked up. Sort of like the BLM folks who mostly just ran their mouths and went home; a minority decided to do some midnight shopping and burning.

In watching Trump's harangue I noticed he said he was going to march to the Capitol and then got in a limo and left. The harangue struck me as his usual self pity and narcissism but I wondered what he thought his more perfervid followers might do if they "followed him" up to the Capitol. Hope it doesn't get any worse.
 
Hahahaha hui, look at the crowd at the rally, then look at the roadies, I’d say that’s like your minority comparison right?

Maybe because the 142 cops didn't need medical attention? I suspect they left their nooses at home and weren't chanting "HANG Mike Pence". Oh they didn't break into offices and steal laptops. The differences are so glaring that the comparison is beyond partisan but bordering on idiocy.

That doesn't make what those women did right but rather those making the comparison disingenuous.

How am I being disingenuous? I simply asked a question.

What I really do not understand is why Jan 6th has been labeled an insurrection. It seems that a thousand people protesting an election are labeled insurrectionists (not overlooking that they should not have gone into the Capitol) vs. thousands looting and burning businesses. Many of the people in the former category are under investigation or in jail, hardly anyone in the latter category.

How many cops needed medical attention after those “peaceful protests”?

Because there was a paramilitary presence there. They were trying to coerce Pence into not facilitating the transfer of power. They had weapons stashed off site. After watching what they did to some of the law enforcement officers can you imagine what this crowd would have done with Pelosi or AOC if they had come across them? Or even Romney? And, they were ginned up by Trump and others in his orbit who took their talking points from him (see Mo Brooks testimony that the white house asked him to talk and at least reviewed his speech).

I've seen multiple videos of January 6th. No weapons in sight. Where is this off site cache of weapons? Where did you find out about this? Serious question. To be fully informed, I would like to know.

With regard to Mo Brooks (R) Alabama:
Where is Trump in this?

The only person killed was an unarmed woman. She was killed by a Capitol Police officer who has not been identified. If someone is killed by a Dallas or Ft. Worth cop, we know the name of the officer. Why the secrecy?
 
"Stashed Weapons Offsite" are no threat to anyone. Paramilitary presence? Can you imagine our military attacking with stashed weapons offsite?

Was that alleged with THIS particular defendant? If not, then it is a moot point.

People like you refuse to acknowledge that the very substantial number of persons in DC had no weapons, were not violent and, at most, committed the offense of trespassing. But I guess they all intended to overthrow the government with a game of thumb-wrestling or something similar since almost everyone that has been filmed had no weapons or objects commonly referred to as a weapon...

A superseding indictment alleges Guy Wesley Reffitt had weapons. Per this article:

In a superseding indictment on Wednesday, he was issued the additional charge of having a firearm with him at the Capitol.

The charge states that while at the Capitol, Reffitt “without lawful authority to do so, and during and in relation to the offense, did use and carry a deadly and dangerous weapon and firearm, that is, a semi-automatic handgun.”

My OP was sent just after His speech and I hoped nothing bad would happen when that portion of the peaceable assembly took him up on his invitation to walk up to Congress to do what?

worse mayhem might have been anticipated by a reasonable person. But all of them departed peacefully.

But calling that cluster fug an insurrection is ludicrous.
