This thing has picked up some power in the last couple of days. Hope the coastal folks are safe.

Have one friend still waiting to hear from family that lives in Rockport.

North of Houston, the real rains kicked up overnight. Looking at traffic cams, Houston will be out of commission for the better part of a week since each major highway has segments that look like small rivers.

As of this morning, I was still under 9 inches of rain at the house for two days...however, that is changing rapidly. Still less than a half-hour to the south where they were ahead by five to six inches of rain.

Lake Conroe is starting to rise and the gates are open, which will further hurt those downstream. Fortunately, it was almost a foot below full pool before the storm. Dam is at 207 feet while full pool is 201 feet. At about 203-203.5, I am stranded at the house because of a low spot on my street. current level is 201.7 feet as of 745am.

@mb227 I hope you hear good news from Rockport.

Lots of steady rain still here in Katy / west Houston area but our neighborhood streets still look pretty clear.

Water is approaching our front porch. We have been moving things up off the floor as much as possible. But the radar looks like the heaviest of it may be moving north of us now. I hope so.

Hopefully you are spared the intrusion of unwanted waters.

It is clear I will be in the house for a while...lake hit 205 feet within the past hour, which was up almost a foot from when I looked around 7PM. Even with the dam releases being increased, it will be a while before the water retreats enough for me to get to the main road. Even if the rain stopped falling now, I would expect to see the lake hit at least 206 feet, which is close to four feet over where I can drive out.

I peeked out the front door a minute ago to check the water level and a little black snake went slithering by. I was like: NOPE.

Just had text from boss...opening of the Addicks Reservoir means that he expects to get water in his house. They had left the area early Saturday.

Yeah, we were watching that last night. It wasn’t expected to affect things further west where we are. Flood waters were uncomfortably close to our front door last night when the heavy rain finally moved out.

Got word that the office is dry, with no leaks from roof. So that's one ease on my mind...I've got second-floor space in a two-story building that has a past history of a leaky roof during torrential downpours.

Lake has gone down a little so far this morning. Peaked around 206.4 feet and is down to 206.1 as of a half-hour ago. Roughly 79K cfs on the dam release.

I've got some high winds right now, but no measurable rain falling. Lots of crap that blew into the pool last night but I also got rid of a couple of the dead palm fronds in the winds last night

One good thing in the way of silver linings is that the temps have been way down...I remember how miserable it was during the aftermath of Alicia when temps were in the 90's and no power. Now it is in the 70's and I still have power. Sliding door opened means no need for A/C at the moment...

We lost power in the middle of a game of Monopoly a little while ago. Finished it by candlelight which was actually pretty cool. My wife had hotels everywhere and crushed us all.
