DRIPPING SPRINGS, TEXAS

I am thinking about a weekend get-a-way to Dripping Springs with the wife; even though I'm a football season ticket holder, I don't think I've ever been to Dripping Springs.
Can anyone tell me about the Hamilton Pool, etc?
Is it easy to hike down to the grotto?

Its out in the middle of nowhere. Get there early, the parking lot fills up with cars and they close it.

I would check out Krause Springs in Spicewood. You can bring a tent or camper and stay on site. Decent BBQ at Opies just down the road.

Is there enough to do in the area to warrant a stay
at at bed and breakfast in the Dripping Springs area ?

We live in Corpus Christi, and are looking for a hill country
weekend. I was told highway 281 north from San Antonio
was really scenic with antique shops along the way, etc. as you move into the hill country.
We've done the Fredericksburg thing, and were looking for something different.
Anybody got any suggestions ?

I'm not a big fan of B&B, but highly recommend the Inn Above Onion Creek, which is about 5 miles West of Kyle on the way to Wimberly. MIddle of nowhere, quiet, all rooms are two level and have balconies and fireplaces, olus jacuzzi tubs. Easy trip into Austin, Wimberly, San Marcos, Hamilton's Pool. Place only has a few rooms, and serves breakfast and dinner with price of room.
