They had Pat's protege for 7 seasons, the last 3 being unremarkable, and then one of Pat's players for another 5. Have to wonder if they are going to someone without previous ties to the program. Shea Ralph maybe?

Can't see Kara going yet. She's had winning seasons and two trips to the big dance. That's like Texas saying Vic needs to go because he can't get past the Elite 8. Things are tuff at the top!
 
Timing matters:

Harper, 46, had four years left on her contract. Her buyout dropped significantly Monday, going from 100% of her annual compensation through April 14, 2027 to 50% of her annual compensation through its end date in 2028.

WTW! I knew it was coming But I thought they might give her one more year. I think they already have someone selected. Who? I don't know. I think they finally decided to go outside of the Pat coaching tree.

That's actually the time to go. The longer she gets entrenched at Duke and wins even more, the harder it would be to leave.

If Tennessee comes calling, Duke will have to pay her more to keep her. SEC Kentucky already poached ACC Virginia Tech's Kenny Brooks. ACC TV revenue (all sports) doesn't come close to SEC TV revenue money; and, it makes a difference when retaining/hiring coaches for non-revenue sports.

I was referring to her getting fired, not moving along for greener prospects.

That's twice Kelli has been let go, the first time was at NC State.... kind of ironic that was Tennessee's last opponent with Harper as their coach.
 
Kara could bring quite a bit of young talent with her from Duke... that is if they don't mind getting a far inferior education and living in Klan-ville. If you know anything about that Eastern region of Tennessee, then you know what I'm talking about.

True about that area of the state, but not Knoxville itself. It’s quite a lot like Austin of 20 years ago. A blue dot trying to keep the red surround at bay. And, for what it is worth, the other UT is a pretty good school, but you are correct it’s no Duke. Our former HC (GG) learned the hard-way that the type of student athlete applying for Duke is very different from the ones applying at either UT - although our UT would certainly come closer to the mark than their UT.
 
This is only hopeful prognostication, if Lawson takes the Tennessee job, I wonder if Adrianna Roberson would be interested I coming to Texas. Probably she is more likely to stay at Duke, or go to Tenn.- just a thought. It is something that does happen occasionally.

Anything is possible.

In addition to Duke, Roberson made official visits to UConn, Oregon, Southern Cal and Utah. Seems like she was determined to leave the state of Texas for college.
 
Tennessee message board is saying their AD will look outside the Lady Vols family for their next coach. Becky Hammon seems to be a popular choice among their fans. They're basically saying "hell no" to Kara Lawson.

I remember this guy when he was HC at Syracuse. he would pull in all these highly coveted HS and transfer players......to replace players leaving in droves from the previous year. Ol Miss hired him for his recruiting.

So many were leaving because he was an abusive creep. His recruiting chops have probably been severely hindered by the exposure of his actions and proclivities. I don't know if this hire sticks. The backlash against Coach Yo, from my perspective someone widely liked before this hire, has been immediate and loud. Then again, it is Ol' Miss.
 
This is what I saw on the Lady Vols message board...

Take it with a grain of salt, but here's what I've heard from solid sources. DW is keeping things VERY close to the chest, so none of this will be groundbreaking information.
Kara is not happening and never was. Jennie Baranczyk has at least been contacted as has Lindsay Gottlieb although I don't know that interest is there for Lindsay with the class she has coming in. Wes Moore has been contacted although I don't know that the interest is there because he is very close with the Harpers, also his age is a factor. Brenda Frese is in contention, but will her baggage proceed her. Jeff Walz is in contention, but he has some of the same baggage as Brenda. I've heard nothing on Becky Hammon. This leads me to believe that the interest isn't there or she isn't too keen on recruiting.
I know that a LOT of interest has been there, but most of the interest is from successful mid major coaches or coaches coming off hot seasons that don't coach for a Power 5 school.
I expect early next week will the absolute latest we hear something.
