looking for a trip that includes really good whitewater rafting. My 13 year old daughter thinks she can raft a 1,000 ft high waterfall. Want to teach her a lesson!

Middle Fork of the Salmon, Idaho.

This though is a multi-day trip that requires advance planning. I believe you basically have to go with a licensed rafting company You can apply for a permit on your own but I think the waiting list is several years.

thanks for the replies, but looking for a one day trip. Seems like the Upper Klamath in southern Oregon is a really good one. Anyone ever been on it?

Middle fork, flathead river, MT. I don't have any other perspective because montana is the most beautiful place in the US, so I only raft on the flathead.

While it would clearly make nobody's #1 in the U.S. spot, and it requires a good rain shortly beforehand, for Texas, some very good rapids canoeing, rafting, and tubing can be had on the South Llano River (near Junction/Telegraph) after a good rain. It's about 2 hours from Austin.

Ocoee river in Tennessee. You can choose level of difficulty and length while reliving one of my favorite lines in a movie with quaint dueling banjos playing in the background, "Squeal like a pig boy!".
