Best Time to Buy a Ticket

Looking to head back over to the states in June for vacation, and am starting to look for tickets. My question is, what is the best time window to purchase?

I'm under the impression (with absolutely no basis) that fares are pretty fully priced if you buy too far in advance, with the sales coming typically 1-3 months prior to departure, and then they jack up the prices 2 weeks before the date of departure.

Right now, but best price I'm seeing is a little less than £400 (roughly $800) from London to Dallas and I'm pretty sure there will be better prices than this.

Any advice?

ive heard either Tuesdays or Wednesdays are when airlines post their new fares. can't remember which. fwiw.

from limited experience, it seems like around 3-4 weeks beforehand.

Agreed... I think I heard Tuesday nights, maybe after midnight?
