Have added:
OH Skinner from Kentucky
LB Fleck from UCLA

Lost:
Butler(Graduation)
Peterson(Graduation)
Fields to USC
Madison Williams

Also, Sydney Peterson has entered her name into the portal as well; she wasn’t returning for us anyway so it’s really a moot point.

hopefully we can get an MB from the portal.

Quite honestly losing Sydney and gaining Fleck is a net gain, just like gaining Morgan a couple of years ago. I also think Skinner may prove to be even better than Skylar.

Despite Brionne's inconsistency she really seemed to get in rhythm her SR year. Finding a good backup for Asjia is the biggest need, and not just for talent reasons as we know, unless Molly moves back to MB.

I'll have to answer you Q with I don't know until I see next year's full roster in action.

I guess getting the transfer from Utah mid-season looks good now. I think Gabriel and the Utah setter would be neck and neck for the starter role this fall. Perhaps the stress of that was one factor in this. Or not.

I do not like what is happening on the team. Two high profile starters transferring is not good, something is going on.

Fields is the only starter transferring. Gabriel is hanging up her VB shoes after 4 great years.
Considering the incoming '22 and' 23 recruits, Madison Williams & Naomi Cabello likely would have had only mop-up duty if Jenna had continued playing. Fields wanted to be a six-rotation player which wasn't going to happen with the rest of the back row & current 6-ro talent.

Texas is still a national championship level team. Yeah we lose Fields and Gabriel but we add Fleck and Skinner. SKT was more than likely going to take that starting spot regardless if Jhenna stayed or not. Texas is also in the mix for mb Kaitlyn Hord from Penn state so this 2022 team will be more than capable of going all the way. Add our incoming freshman for depth and possibly go international for a backup setter or the portal but this program is perfect fine.

Texas will be losing another player to the portal. Nalani Iosia will be entering the portal soon.
Well that's a strange one. Even with Fleck coming in you need a L and DS on the court. Maybe Reilly is surpassing her. Or maybe she just wants to get back closer to home.

I think her playing time was going to be very little this upcoming season. Texas now has Skinner and Eggleston who will be playing 6 rotations so she could’ve came in for Phillips on the right but, Parra was going to be that person for her serve and passing alone. Heinrich really Impressed me during the fall and she seemed to be passing Iosia and Texas has Halter coming in and she is also a stud so It was just a matter of time before Iosia didn’t play at all. Wish her the best though but we’ll be fine.

I'm not sure Texas doesn't have three 6 rotation players after seeing the action this spring. Parra is going to be difficult to keep as just a defensive specialist with the way she's picked up her front court play. Jerritt lined her up against BU's RS and she was very effective, almost Amy Neal-esque in some of her shot selections. Skinner is better on the RS. Given we now have setters over 6', you can have Parra as a OH and line her up against the opposing team's setter and you don't even have to worry about her smaller block. I'm not sure any other DS's besides Fleck as libero will have a significant role come the fall. Three six rotation players give you a **** ton of options in passing formations on top of Fleck's ability to cover 1/2 of the backcourt; I don't expect Texas to hit the stumbling block they did last year in regionals.

I hate to see her leave. I'm not sold on the 2-3 six rotation players some think we have. We've been hurt so many times cause of our lack of defense on the back row. But I'm sure this decision was made as a result of what was happening in PRACTICE. Which makes me a big dummy...lol
Best of luck to Nalani.

Yeah Skinner said about a month ago she was training as a 6 rotation OH. Skinner is a very good passer. Not sure about her backrow defense but that’s why we have Fleck is like two defenders in one so what we will miss she will more than make up.

I don't think the head coach is locked in or sold on anything at this point and that's what counts. He played 4 different lineups in every match we played this spring. It was a competitive spring when we didn't have that big a roster. Once the two transfers and the freshmen arrive it will become one of the most competitive practice gyms they've had in many years. Even with Nalani's departure there will still be DS's to sub in for pin hitters that aren't bringing the passing or back row defense. It's a good problem to have, I'm excited.

We need a competitive practice gym and not have players in that gym that want guaranteed spots and to pout behind the scenes when their role isn't what they think it should be. Our conference competition level last year was bad. I really don't foresee the Big 12 being better this upcoming season. Baylor is rebuilding. Kansas was the only other team last year to push us and their star middle blocker left to go to Wisconsin. I don't see any other of the remaining six with the caliber of players or getting any transfers that makes them Top 25 competition. I do think going back to the home and away will help some, certain teams play us like their hair is on fire at their place.
