It’s that not far off and Calamity is at work...

From BlueStar Media:
Having guards who can handle, pass, and score is a must, players who do a combination of these things well. 2024 combo guard Madi Hawk (Team B-Wright, Tennessee) is once such player. While she’s always proven to be quite the marksman from three, Hawk’s ability to get to the rack against the speediest of defenders was on display early and often in Tampa. She’s a very blue-collar person, on and off the floor, so expect her to never be content and to just keep working. While her scoring ability is going to be coveted heavily, she can handle the point just fine if need be.

I honestly thought she wasn't Vic's type but I can see it as I watch more highlights. Lights out shooter who can like you said attack the basket. Coach Calamity not wasting time hitting the recruiting trail. I also saw per her ig she has made her way to Austin. I'm loving this hire more and more:hookem:

I assume one of our coaches, guessing April Phillips, were there to see 6’ 4” Blanca Thomas (tagged in the tweet)…

Are the Horns giving any love to any players in the 2024 class? :bevo::popcorn:

Our targets for 2024 aren't clear to me. However, Jaloni Cambridge, from Tennessee, is the #1 rated point and the #2 overall recruit by ESPN HoopGurlz. Jaloni has visited two schools this year, Georgia and Old Miss. Her older sister just committed to Kentucky.

If social media can provide any clues, there seems to be mutual interest between Jaloni and Texas. Jaloni "likes" almost all of Rori's IG posts (which are numerous) and Coach McEntire likes most of Jaloni's IG posts. Jaloni is followed by Coach Phillips and Coach McEntire. Sammie Wagner, Gisella Maul, and Breya Cunningham also follow her. On the flip side, Jaloni follows, our coaches (including Vic), Rori Harmon, Aliyah Matharu, Latasha Lattimore, and Jordana Codio. She also follows, 2023 recruits Sammie Wagner, Breya Cunningham, and Gisella Maul.

Based upon Rori's success, Vic should be in contention for any PG that he targets. That said, it is difficult to pull a PG from Tennessee and the SEC. Obviously, our needs at the PG position will change depending upon if we sign any for 2023 or get a PG from the portal.

Very thorough and informative for this far out...thanks.

Did ESPN do a recent update? Or were you referring to a different ranking? I ask because Jaloni is ranked as the #1 PG and #2 player overall on HoopGurlz, as well as Jr All Star. (Prospects Nation is not responding as of this moment.) I'm splitting hairs since this stuff is so preliminary at this time.

You are correct, Jaloni is the #1 PG and the #2 rated recruit. I'll fix that in my original post. Thanks for letting me know.

Jaloni's family is exceptionally talented at basketball. Her father played at college hoops at Alabama A&M and set the NCAA record for steals in a single season with 160. She has 4 older siblings who have played collegiate basketball at Fisk University, Brown (then transferred to Nevada), Vanderbilt and Auburn. As previously mentioned, her older sister just committed to Kentucky.

Since the family has had so much experience and opportunities with their children playing college basketball, I would assume they will be very thoughtful with their approach to Jaloni's choice of schools. They likely have learned a lot over the years in regards to the importance of school selection.

Here's a link to the article with a few photos of the family.

Great feedback Luther! Under Aston's regime it seemed that information of the recruits we were after was a couple of years out and was well known. Vic seems to keep recruiting close to the vest. Maybe it's all due to the 2020 Covid disaster and when he arrived. I find the recruiting posts on Hornfans the most exciting to follow. And it's great when we Win!!! Thanks for your insight!

Here’s a new name to file away for 2024 recruiting, Adhel Tac. Tac is a 6-5” center from South Grand Prairie. Currently, she is listed on ESPN's HoopGurlz as the 12th best overall recruit and the 2nd best post player in the 2024 class.

I first noticed her name on ESPN’s 2024 class rankings on Tuesday. Per Tac’s Instagram, she wasn’t being followed by any of the Texas coaches. However, last night, Elena Lovato and Tac are now following each other on IG.

Here is a snippet from Score Book Live on Tac’s performance last season in the State 6A game between South Grand Prairie and Summer Creek:

Adhel Tac, South Grand Prairie surge past Summer Creek in 6A state semifinals - Scorebook Live

“In a matchup between two of the state’s most experienced girls basketball squads, South Grand Prairie’s lone sophomore provided the pivotal difference. Adhel Tac put on a display down low in one of the top performances of her young career.

The sophomore tallied a 21-point, 13-rebound double-double in her state tournament debut to help the Warriors crush Humble Summer Creek in a 65-41 blowout 6A state semifinals win Friday night at the Alamodome.

“We try to get Adhel touches inside and that's a testament to our guards that they're willing to give it up because we have a lot of talented, athletic guards,” Raven said. “But I mean, Adhel can be unstoppable when she wants to be so that's a concept for us. Every game we try to establish that inside presence.”

“She's a big factor for our offense and we look for her most of the time,” senior guard Jahcelyn Hartfield said. “That just makes it easy on us.”

In the She Got Game Classic last December, Tac was listed as one of the tournaments stand-out performers;

Adhel Tac (2024) | South Grand Prairie High School
Tac put the gym on notice today doing it all for the South Grand Prairie group. Tac finished with 20 pts and 10+ rebounds, Tac’s presence was felt on the defensive end as she owned the paint getting a handful of blocks & disrupting a lot of shots down low remember the name!

YouTube videos:

Although most of the clips are of Tac on offense, I love her defensive game. Take note of her agility and long arm span starting at the 11 second mark.

This short video clip shows how well Tac uses both her right and left hands, her footwork and her ability to block shots.

She looks very well-developed for a HS soph post player... and to think she's got a couple more seasons left. She's going to be REALLY good and I expect her ranking may increase even more. Let's put the full-court press on her now. She's a must get!

Wow. Just wow. This young lady is more skilled as a HS Soph than Charlie was in her freshman year at Texas. Most of that is her athleticism, but even her back-to-basket skills and quickness are much superior.

Nice catch, Luther.

While it's not unusual to see HS underclassmen guards this developed, it is not often that HS post players are this well-developed at such an early stage. Her combination of athleticism and sound fundamentals (attacking the glass for rebounds, protecting the rim, keeping the ball high over her head, USING THE BACKBOARD, etc.) create a huge upside for her IMO.

Adhel Tac is currently playing in an AAU tournament in the Metroplex. Here's a short interview and a few highlights from her last game.

BTW, there seems to be mutual interest between Tac and Texas. Tac follows Coach Lovato and TxWBB on Instagram and frequently "likes" photos/videos that are posted to those accounts.

CyFElite played a team from Wisconsin this evening in the 17U championship game Run 4 the Roses Eon ESPNU. Ziebell from Wisconsin was by far the best player on floor. She’s #9 in 2024 on ESPNW and is uncommitted. Wisconsin won by about 7 or 8. Chavez had a very poor game. Carlton from CyF was best player on her team. Carlton from Katy Seven Lakes is #21. They said she had over 50 offers. Wisconsin played zone and CyF didn’t have a clue. No shooting. Made me have thoughts of Matharu’s loss this fall. Geno was shown on The TV as it was on EDNU. Lots of coaches and fans there. It’s on replay early Saturday morning if somebody wants to record for viewing. There were 3 games from the tourney on ESPNU today.

Chavez is very good but couldn’t buy a basket from outside. Or inside. She tried to guard Ziebell but Ziebell took her to school driving using either hand with outstanding interior moves. She’s a 5’-10” guard. Chavez has a good handle, sees the floor well, passes good….but when your and your teammates shots are not falling__it is not good. The zone just killed CFE.

G Maul didn’t play and was shown on bench keeping books or something. They said she was hurt. I thought they said she had surgery this spring but the wife was talking to me and I missed the exact discussion

Yeah I watched a bit of the game and Maul tore her ACL at the end of March so she won’t be back from injury until the end of December or beginning of January. That team really misses her because you can tell they aren’t the same without her.

Thanks for the recap of the game. Here are a few highlights of Zieball’s 30 pt performance.

Damn! Didn't realize Maul had suffered an ACL injury. Wishing her a full and speedy recovery.

Justice Carlton's Mom, Kacy Moffitt is a former Baylor Bear; not sure if she played for Mulkey or before her arrival.

We’ll….the game from the weekend against Wisconsin must have been pool play or other as the loss by CYFAIRELITE didn’t effect the winner of the 17U natty. CFE beat Exodus (NY) this afternoon for the championship. It was tied early in the fourth but CFE got hot from BTA and won by about 5. Chavez hit 3 of 3 BTA during the run. She had 18 points with 4-5 BTA. She was their primary ball handler. I would have said she was outstanding until late lazy passes led to turnovers against the press. She still was VERY impressive. When the outside shots are falling, everything looks good.

Glad to see Blair Schaefer, Sydney Carter, and 2023 Abbie Boutilier starting to follow Justice Carlton on Instagram.

I don't really care about the shoes, but I like the positive comments about recruiting. I'm getting the feeling it's about the 2024 class:
