2024 MCWS

Tennessee takes it with a walk-off run in the bottom of the 9th, 12-11, guess we’re going to have to pay a little more to get Vitello now. :smile1:

Might be Tennessee’s year. Won in a walk off, come from down by 4 to win.

Fl St.’s offense is for real but their bullpen isn’t as deep as Tennessee.

If anyone has paid attention, Tennessee went into the losers bracket I believe in the first game of the SEC tournament and still won it.

I get the game I’ve been wanting, NC vs Tenn, I think Tenn pulls it out but that’s why they play the games.

The NC St/Kentucky game is an intriguing matchup. I think Florida takes care of Aggie.

Doesn’t seem to be much interest here in this year's CWS, I wonder why? :smile1:
Here’s some key coaching salaries to chew on instead (per Front Office Sports). Age in first parenthesis, CWS appearances in the second, participants in this year's CWS in bold:

All 3 games have been great games.

Yeah, without the Horns there, it doesn't have the same excitement. If we can get Pierce an 8 year extension, we will likely get to Omaha another 3 times in those 8 years. That's acceptable isn't it? :rolleyes1:

Lol. When I look over that coaching list, it's hard not to be intrigued by Johnson, Vitello, Bakich and Mingione when you combine age, salary and success to date. You've convinced me that Jarrett would likely never leave his alma mater, otherwise he'd be in the Top 5 candidates for sure.

What's with the aggy unis? White with either navy or black lettering and red numbers. Pretty sure their hats have blue & red on it. WTF?

Florida pitching has a team ERA of 6.36, with a team batting average of .272. How did they end up here exactly?

Well, I'm no college baseball savant but so far the games have played out exactly how I perceived the teams, extremely even.

I figured Virginia was the weakest in bracket 1 and felt Tenn and NC would be in the semi final, but Virginia was only narrowly defeated. I believe Tenn will end up victorious on this side but we will see, big game today.

The other side I thought it was Florida, as you know they lost last night but they were about a foot from winning it as the RF snagged a homerun at the edge of the fence. Great game and went down to the final out.

So far, one of the best world series in recent memory.

All these kids are playing hard and none want to go home, it's a great thing to watch.

This year, the phrase from Omaha, "Greatest Show on Dirt" rings true for me.

May our team make it back there soon. :hookem:

I agree, but I’ve got a bad feeling about aggy, meaning they could go all the way. It’s a talented team and Schlossnaggy has the experience and smarts to lead the way. I guess the silver lining in that scenario is that it might just be the wake-up call that CDC and our big cigars need to force a coaching change.

I don't feel quite as bad, there are a bunch of Texas kids on the team, I like seeing Texas kids do well even if they play for someone else as long as they don't adopt a classless stance of hating Texas more than loving their own school similar to some Texas Tech players. They might win that side of the bracket but Tenn is waiting on the other side.

Having said that, the two Aggie fans last night were an embarrassment beyond the normal aggie embarrassment.

Not all the kids from Texas can play for Texas, some have to go to other schools, can't fault them for that and these kids represent my great state. :beertoast:

I don’t have a problem with aggy players per se, just their weird, delusional fans. I have a couple of Aggies in my family and believe me, a natty in a major men’s sport would make that fan base insufferable.

Wow, I just heard on sports talk radio about the two aggy fans that harassed the Florida dugout (thus confirming my comments above regarding their insane fans who don’t know how to handle success). I slept through it, anyone have video?

I didn't realize it happened early in the game, and according to that second video might have rattled the Florida coaches enough that they didn't challenge a close call at third base (which would have likely changed the outcome of the game). According to Texags the two Aggies were yelling at the Florida coach, calling him a "murderer", based on some controversy in his past when he was allegedly banging the bat boy's mother and the mother's husband later killed his own kids and then committed suicide. Oh, and Sully ended up marrying the mom after all this. Can't wait to join the SEC! :smile1:

That’s what I was referencing above. Total embarrassment. I stayed up and watched the whole game, I dozed off some but saw this live.
